UNHAPPY DRIVER DEMANDS STATE PAY FOR HER IDLING COSTS

Carol Greenberg wants the state of Michigan to put its money where her mouth is. Greenberg has sent the Michigan Department of Transportation a bill for 16 dollars, claiming that's how much money she wasted on gas while sitting in traffic.Greenberg says she was returning home from a trip to a veterinarian with her cat late last month when she was forced to sit idling in her car for 50 minutes because of construction on a highway in Newport, Michigan. Greenberg, who hails from nearby Perrysburg, Ohio, says there were no signs warning motorists about any road work, so she had no choice but to sit in her car and wait. In addition to the frustration of dealing with traffic, Greenberg says she had to endure listening to her cat, who howled the whole time they sat still. The department of transportation wrote back to Greenberg to let her know it can't reimburse drivers.
